Have you heard? There's an up and coming Ishgardian prodigy in the art world, and that's Olivier Delacroix.He goes by his artist's signature alias, Olive, just for simplicity's sake. Fairly young for all that he's said to have accomplished in the short time he's been marketing his work, the young man has quickly made a name for himself among some small Ishgard elite circles, namely for his signature painting style: aetheric portraits.Olive is blind but with a very strong sense for aetherial magic. He can see a person's shape and somewhat make out their features based on their aether and what he has explained as "a multitude of colors mixing and mingling to shape each individual," which as it turns out, makes for some very unique art pieces of his subjects.Outside of art, he's a fan of studying aether in general and holds a deep fascination for the practice. He's been recently visiting Sharlayan to study as such.He's soft spoken and quick to make small talk. He carries himself a bit meekly in a way that speaks to inexperience in his younger age, but generally always tries his best to look and act professionally-- even while playfully teasing others. Always ready to lend a hand or a smile to anyone who seems like they might need it.

in actuality

Olivier is a professional liar.He does enjoy painting the way that he sees the world and learning everything that he can about aether to better maintain the grasp he has on his vision, but that is where the similarities end between the real him and the young man that he presents himself as.In actuality the Elezen is older than he claims (actual age: 26), using his youthful appearance to his advantage to appear unassuming. He has robbed every single noble who has commissioned artwork from him, skilled enough at it that he hasn't been caught just yet, but there might be some rumors here and there about some maids being let go from their duties under suspicion. A pity, really.Olivier's priority is himself. It's a tough world out there, and he learned from a young age that no one is ever going to look out for him, so he has to rely on himself. He goes where the money and potential fame is, schmoozing and befriending others as a means of getting what he wants. At least he leaves his clients with nice artwork as a consolation prize.

Please don't use anything here as IC knowledge.He's flighty and volatile deep down as a means of self-preservation. I'm down to explore aspects of this if anyone is interested in some long form RP, but please don't just randomly call him out on it if he's being perfectly pleasant at Random Cafe Event #35-- he's worked for years to perfect his poker face, so be cool, okay? ♥

Artistic Pursuits - Are you interested in commissioning an Olive original? He's always willing to take on new clients. His paintings require him to spend time around his subjects so that he can get a good read of their aura, so it wouldn't be too strange if a work scenario evolved into friendship.Astromancy - He has recently taken an interest in learning Sharlayan astrology. Are you skilled in the practice and looking for a student?Charitable Acts - Olive has been known to visit a specific, lower end orphanage in Ishgard and donates as much as he can to them. Maybe some likeminded folk are there helping out too and they happen to run into each other.Ishgard - 90% of his time is spent there. He knows the area forward and back, and will give others a tour if asked. Similarly, maybe you both know some cool places and happen to go there at the same time?Ishgard #2 - Did you grow up in or frequent the Brume for any reason around 20 years ago? Olive lived in an orphanage there from ages 6 to 16, if your character did as well, it's likely he remembers. Being recognized as such will put him on edge though, so I'd appreciate a heads up for this hook!Is he lost? - On the other hand, anywhere that isn't Ishgard is fairly new to Olive, and it's tough learning to navigate new places. It's possible he quite literally has bumped into your character, sat at the wrong table, or simply wandered into somewhere he wasn't intending to be.The long-con - This hook must be discussed and planned beforehand. The characters that Olive has stolen from are nameless NPCs, however, if you're interested in playing with the angle of being someone he befriends just to steal from, I'm definitely open to that with some planning!

appearance

Tired is probably the best way to describe this Elezen's appearance, as he seems to have permanent dark circles under his eyes. His eyes are very, very pale and at first glance they might look stark white as if completely devoid of color, but on closer inspection they have flecks of turquoise in them.He was born blind and with how easily he seems to get around due to his skill with aether, it might not be immediately obvious unless it's something others happen to be paying particular attention to, most notable in his tendency to get lost in his own thoughts at times and space off staring at nothing. He certainly doesn't call attention to it himself, though.He's about average height for an Elezen, standing at around 6'6", and is fairly slender with not a lot of defined muscle to show for it. It's obvious that he's not built for any rough combat in the slightest. There's really not much about him that immediately stands out otherwise, he's pretty in the sense that most Elezen are.When it comes to clothing, Olive can be found wearing dark greens, golds, and browns. He likes earth and jewel tones and while the material of his clothing is never expensive or overly lavish, the garments are always impeccably clean and pressed, and he always smells faintly of cloves and vanilla. He also seems to greatly enjoy jewelry, if how much he wears of it is any indication.

Pretty standard stuff here, the IC=/=OOC divide is very important for me, so please let's respect each other's boundaries.• Hard Yes: slice of life, chats about aether & art, lighthearted adventures, general networking, crafter rp, teacher & student bonds when it comes to AST related things• Hard No: random ERP, character death, homophobia, transphobia, racism, extreme abuse scenes, ascians/WoL themed characters• Hard Maybe: dark themes, combat (both only with proper ooc discussion!)In game and discord RP are both fine, but I prefer my in-game stuff to be either event-based or planned beforehand, so one on one first meetings are usually preferred through discord. Post length varies, but multi-para/mirror in discord and probably less so in-game just to keep the scene going at a reasonable pace.If you'd like to plan something, don't hesitate to approach me!
